Selecting Your Lashes

Straight

Look very pretty – fuller appearance. Accentuated most, from a side view. A variety of curls available: from dramatic CC-curl to a subtle J-curl

Curly

Provides a classic Bambi like appearance, looks great clients with wide set eyes, or with a high brow arch

Thickness

Refers to how thick 1 eyelash extension hair is, we stock (thinnest to thickest) – 0.7mm, 1mm, 1.5mm, 2mm, 2.5mm – If you require a different thickness to our stock, please email or call us to discuss this

Mapping

Refers to the placement of long and short lash extensions. Popular design Inc. increasing length mid-eye to outer-corners, or longer lashes placed centrally

Length

At  SOTERIAlash we use at least 3 individual lengths per full-set to achieve naturally appearing depth, including short i.e., 8-9 mm , moderate lengths i.e., 10 -11 mm and  long i.e., 12 -13 mm, and very long i.e., 14 -15 mm  to mega long e.g., 16 mm

Flatness

Lashes with a flatter root compared to traditional lashes. This gives them greater volume, without added weight. – Delivers a more defined, darker lash line with a glamourous finish

Volume

Typically refers to the amount of lashes applied and/or the thickness of each lash. Half-Set typically have 30 lashes, and a full set typically has 60 ,lash extensions applied per eye

SILK VS. MINK LASHES

MINK LASHES

Mink eyelash extensions are faux premium eyelashes that are super soft to the touch and very lightweight, with a very natural appearance. They move with the natural lashes as they are incredibly soft, making them indistinguishable from real mink fur. Unlike traditional synthetically made lashes, mink is in fact very comfortable to wear, and typically excellent at maintaining their shape…providing they are of the highest standard premium mink lashes used @Lah-Lab. The main difference in comparison to silk eyelashes is that mink eyelashes are finer than silk eyelashes, producing a more natural look (this is affected by the actual lash-extension width). You come in an array of shapes & curls including B-Curl, C-Curl & D-Curl; with a variety of thicknesses from 0.1 to 2 mm, with the full standard array of lengths from 8 to 16 mm. With mink lashes you can achieve your desired style with ease.

Silk Lashes

Silk eyelash extensions are man-made fibres (PBT) that are fine and soft, although stronger than mink lashes which gives them a higher degree of flexibility; they tend to have a very good retention rate e.g., staying put power). Faux-silk lashes are not as light weight as faux mink lashes. This is because during their production, silk eyelashes literally have silk proteins added, to give them their satin texture & flexibility, they create a more natural look than other eyelash types. You can select a range of shapes (e.g., B-Curl, C-Curl & D-Curl), and  thicknesses options  (e.g., 0.1 to 0.20 mm).  Mink lashes are available in all lengths (e.g., 8 mm to 16 mm).  Compared to faux mink lashes, silk lashes are much darker & thicker looking, placing them firmly amongst the most popular eyelash extension materials.

What’s the difference between Mink & Silk eyelash extensions?  There are contrasting characteristics in the texture, colour and movement  –  Although silk eyelash extensions are man-made they are made with the softest fibres, and tend to be jet-black with a glossy sheen. In contrast , mink eyelash extensions  are made from natural hairs… making them luxuriously soft with a matte finish. Your lash technician is at hand to guide you on the best option for your desired lash-style.

Faux-mink lash extensions are soft to the touch & natural looking, most salons typically use a faux mink material, that replicates real mink fur. SOTERIA use faux-mink lashes for ethical reasons i.e., we are against animal-cruelty. Equally, actual mink fur is not necessarily better for lash extensions, because they can lose their shape when wet. Our faux-mink lashes are made of the finest quality material, perfectly replicating the appearance & texture of real mink e.g., their soft, fine & glossy.

Lash-Mapping

Mapping design helps you achieve the perfect style inc. length, thickness & curl, and placement of each lash during the application process. Lash mapping is unique to every individuals eye shape and desired results. Lash pro’s may vary the number of lashes per fan, mix lash shapes, whilst adding longer wispy lashes in selected sections, which can be super for slightly droopy eyelids. True professional artists utilize the art of lash mapping, adhering to a prepared plan for a desired finish; whilst appreciating how every set of eyes is different add in their own artistic flair unique to each client.

Round

Suits almond and upturned eyes, to create a fuller, longer length appearance

Kim-K

Suits almond or round eyes, creating a voluminous spikey finish by placing longer lengths in different sections

Squirrel

Suits close-set, downturned or hooded eyes,  gradually lengthens lashes to the halfway point, then gradually shorter again.

Dolly

Suits almond  and wide-set eyes, creates the appearance of large dolls eyes by placing longer lash lengths midsection

Cat

Suits almond, closely-set or round eyes, gives a wider eye appearance by placing the longest lashes towards the outer edges.

Summary

Individual eyelash extensions e.g., JINNY, Classic & Classic-Glam, are natural-looking eyelash extension styles, applied one eyelash extension per single natural lash. Between 60 to 100 lashes (classic vs. classic-glam) are applied per eye, to achieve a specific finished look. Adhering to a 1:1 ratio i.e., one lash-extension is attached per natural lash. This technique is fundamentally what gives them a very natural appearance. Classic lashes are perfect for clients who are looking to add length to their natural lashes & want subtle definition.

The Russian style, lash technique uses fans of between 2 to 6 ultra-thin eyelashes joined at a base, applied one fan per natural lash i.e., between 2-5 lashes per single natural lash. Whilst, the ‘Hybrid’ lash style technique uses a combination of single faux lashes & Russian fans, added to as many natural lashes as required, to achieve the desired style. Either style can deliver varied degrees of volume, but if you’re seeking the most volume possible then Russian style is best. However, if you’re seeking a slightly more conservative appearance or simply desire more dimension to your style, Hybrid lashes would come out on top.

Treatment Options

Selecting your Style

lash-lab offers voluminous Hybrid and Russian lashes, Mink or Silk classic lashes, and Jinny lashes, meaning you can choose from a natural appearing, to a 3D effect or mega voluminous finish. We stock a range of  lash volumes from 0.1 to 2.5 mm mink lashes and 0.3 to to 0.7 mm Russian lashes, alongside popular lengths from 7 mm to 16 mm, alongside pre-made fans ranging from 3D to 7D.  The lash shape helps determine the level of curvature (or curl) of each specific eyelash-extension, these include D shape, C shape, CC shape and B shape amongst more.  Check out our current Promotions  & BOOK-ONLINE today.

#Classic-Style

Classics are amongst the most popular styles of natural appearing individual eyelash extensions, second only to Jinny-style lashes. Applied one-by-one, this style is available in lengths 9-to-16mm & volumes 0.7-to-1.5mm. If you desire greater length as opposed to volume, classic-style are the perfect lash enhancement for you. Classic-style are semi-permanent eyelash extensions, that last 3-4 weeks. Applied using mink eyelashes of medium thickness. The application takes approx. 1 hour, from start to finish. Many clients top-up with a half-set after 3-4 week, as they typically have many lashes remaining. Explained by the natural lash growth-cycle i.e., longer natural lashes shed sooner.

Technique

Applied 1-by-1 with one lash extension per natural lash, with the finest most lightweight silk lashes, using a very thin amount of moderate strength lash-adhesive. However, whilst the glue is not our strongest, since the lashes are so lightweight with each natural lash gently stroked with adhesive, they last as long as other individual lashes, and typically even longer.

PROs

A beautifully subtle and natural style, that’s extremely comfortable to wear and easy to maintain. Perfectly compatible with a professional image, and for a day-to-day style.

CONs

Jinny-Style are unlikely to satisfy clients seeking an obvious voluminous finish, thus, we recommend stepping up to classic-style or Soteria-style for added volume, if you lashes are not very fine and/or damaged.

#Jinny-Style

JINNYlash is our most natural looking eyelash extensions style, and most gentle on natural lashes. Applied using individual silk eyelashes one-by-one, the technique and materials are so gentle, they’re typically suitable for clients with sensitive eyes (without allergies). Whilst, they also allow your own eyelashes to continue to growing at a natural pace. Each eyelash aligns seamlessly from root-to-tip with your eyelashes, delivering a stunningly natural finish. With lashes that feel as soft & delicate as your own, that feel so comfortable, you’ll almost forget your wearing them. Available in an array of lengths from 8mm-15mm & thicknesses 0.7mm to 1.5 mm.

Technique

Applied 1-by-1 with one lash extension per natural lash, with standard thickness mink lashes, using normal or sensitive strength adhesive, each natural lash gently stroked with adhesive, they last as long as other individual lashes, and typically even longer. We  apply approx. 50 lashes per eyes, adhering to a 1:1 ratio. Alongside our skilled technique Classic-Style provide a stunningly natural finish. Perfect for clients looking for an overall subtle appearance, alongside enhanced length & volume.

PROs

Classic-style eyelash extensions are applied 1-by-1 e.g., one lash extension per natural lash. Enabling  volume, and subtle length, without appearing unnatural in appearance.

CONs

They may lack enough volume for experienced wearers of more voluminous lash enhancement styles, or in clients with gaps or sparse lashes.

#Hybrid-Style

Hybrid style is achieved by finely blending shorter eyelash extensions and fans and lashes, with longer individual lashes. Using a lash-mapping technique, we distribute various lengths strategically across the lash-line. Creating a striking finish with a voluminous, texturized, and wispy effect, full of definition.

Techniques

Hybrid-style is a combination of individual lashes & Russian lashes (fans), and individual lashes in a 50:50 ratio,  merging both application techniques. Producing a finish that is texturized & ultra-voluminous. Applying single lashes, and fans (e.g.,  2-6 ultra-fine lashes connected at a single root) one-by-one to a single natural eyelash. Professionally applied using a strong bonding adhesive, with lower-strength adhesive being used for clients with sensitive eyes.

PROs

Soteria-Style’ provides more volume than classic-style with the individual one-by-one technique. SOTERIAlash mink-lashes are super soft & hold shape, alongside long-lasting lash adhesive for a glamourous looking finish, that lasts 4-6 weeks.

CONs

#Soteria-Style

SOTERIAlashes are luxuriously soft & voluminous, available in lengths 9-to-16mm & volumes 0.7-to-1.5mm, they are applied with our skilled lash-mapping technique to finely blends each individual eyelash one-by-one, for a gorgeous finish. SOTERIAlash extensions are created with the finest quality materials, following years perfecting our technique. Initially specializing with the world renowned JINNYlash, a brand that revolutionized the eyelash extensions industry as we know it today.

Technique

Typically, up to 60-100 individual lashes are attached per eye (varies on the quantity of natural lashes). In simple terms, SOTERIAlashes are the same as standard Classic-Style individual extensions, but much fuller with more voluminous, silky soft mink lashes used. A great choice if you desire enhanced length & volume, with individual lashes to maintain natural looking results.

PROs

A glamourous statement, whilst not going the full shebang! Perfect for clients who love to embrace glamour daily.

CONs

Although this style looks amazing, they may not appear as natural as individual lashes e.g., SOTERIAlash or classic-style.

#Russina-Style

Russian-style eyelash extensions entail a fan (2-8 lashes)  joined together at a single root, known as volume lash fans, to produce a voluminous & dramatic finish. This style is renowned for providing the maximum amount of glamour, in comparison to individual & mixed methods, making it perfect for parties, special occasions & nights out.

Technique

The voluminous results with Russian lashes, are ultra glamourous, with more lash-extensions per natural-lash than traditional techniques, resulting in a fan like finish.  That are finer, fluffier and lighter, than individual lashes (typically 0.05 -0.07 g). Allowing many more lashes to be applied per set, without additional weight. Which explains how technicians, can apply multiple lashes to a single natural eyelash, without causing damage.

Proving a perfect solution for disguising lash flaws e.g., gaps, sparse or very short lashes. Achieving more volume than ever before, whilst blending in beautifully with natural lashes. You can expect to have multiple fine lashes stacked onto each natural lash, which are then fanned out, by the technician at the end of the application process, maximising the voluminous effect. The finished result can be varied, from – Glitz & Glam’ to ‘Dramatic’. Russian-style are a great choice for special occasions, where you desire to look sensationally glamourous. BOOK-ONLINE

Russian eyelash extensions provide ultra volume, perfect for special occasions e.g., parties or weddings, photo-shoots, or an image-revamp. Being semi-permanent, so if you change your mind, they can easily be professionally removed.

CONs

They may feel too heavy for inexperienced wearers & are not the most discreet eyelash enhancement option i.e., people may detect your wearing lash, extensions. Some clients highlight how that this style feels less comfortable to wear day-to-day.
